Elected Officials Propose Curtailing Constitutional Rights

So some in Congress want to take away your Second Amendment rights if you are placed on the Terrorist Watch List. Sounds reasonable, doesn't it? Especially in light of such slanted headlines as this one: Terrorists who want to buy guns have friends on Capitol Hill .

While we are at it, let's take away your First Amendment rights if you are placed on the Terrorist Watch List.

So if some bureaucrat puts your name on the list, you no longer have freedom of speech or religion. You have to clam up, stop writing you column, and become -- oh, I don't know -- something safe, like Episcopal or Buddhist. That doesn't sound so reasonable does it?

Who adds names to that list anyway? How do you get removed? What if an Administration were to put everyone on the list? What is to stop them?

"Oh, the American people wouldn't stand for that."

Yeah, and we shouldn't stand for having our Constitutional Rights taken away because your name is on some list. We shouldn't stand for our elected officials to even propose such a thing.
